Peppercorn Belted Galloway Cattle Stud

Peppercorn Stud was founded in March 1996 with 5 females, 1 calf and 1 bull (Gwaiwunda Dennis). Original female bloodlines were Quamby Park, Clan McLaren, Hawkshead and Budawang (PTIC). Laurella Downs was introduced in 1998. The calf from the PTIC cow was Peppercorn Rosco.

Rosco has been used extensively in the stud. His progeny have won:

  • Sires Progeny Groups at Sydney Royal and Canberra Royal
  • Breeders Group at Canberra Royal
  • Champion Bull at Brisbane Royal
  • Reserve Champion Bull at Sydney Royal, Canberra Royal, Toowoomba Royal and Brisbane Royal
  • Junior Champion Female at Sydney Royal and Canberra Royal
  • Senior Reserve Champion Female at Canberra Royal

Current sires used at stud are Peppercorn Wisdom, Peppercorn Apollo, Peppercorn Albert, Barrington Lazauras and Peppercorn Ben.

The first artificial insemination semen used was direct from the UK out of Mochrum Kingfisher. This magnificent specimen of the breed has won Male Champion at the Royal Highland Show in 1996 ,'97, and '98 and Reserve Breed Champion in 1997 and '98. His progeny have had similar successes.

Previous sires were Gwaiwanda Dennis, Clan McLaren Atlas, Peppercorn Rosco and Peppercorn Xtra.
